      What does it mean to truly be a follower of Jesus? If Jesus lived with assurance, joy, courage, peace, and defiant optimism, His followers will also. We can move beyond being cultural opponents or accessories to becoming cultural transformers. "For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power" (1 Cor. 4:20, RSV).

     Chris Blake is associate professor of English and communication at Union College. Upon graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, he created Bodywise, a children's health magazine. He served as editor of Insight magazine for eight years. He has written many articles and books, including Swimming Against the Current, Reinvent Your Sabbath School (with his wife), and Searching for a God to Love, now in five languages. Blake is married to his high school sweetheart, Yolanda, and is a proud father of two married sons: Nathan (with Andrea and granddaughter Campbell) and Geoff (with Natalie).
